What menus does Scani work with?
Scani works with Japanese restaurant menus — printed and photo menus. It works best with horizontal text menus.
Why is a dish translated incorrectly?
Scani uses AI to translate menus, which may occasionally make errors. You can report translation issues directly from the app using the Report button in the menu (... > Report Issue).
Does Scani work offline?
Scanning new menus requires an internet connection. However, previously scanned menus are saved in your history and can be viewed offline, including pronunciation playback and the menu overlay with translated labels.
What languages are supported?
Scani supports 20 languages for both the app interface and menu translation.
Is my data private?
Yes. Scani does not collect personal information. Photos are only sent for translation and are not stored. See our Privacy Policy for details.
